The Radisson Suite Hotel Oceanfront has an immediate opening for an experienced Electrician responsible for undertaking a variety of tasks relating to setting up and maintaining electrical infrastructure as well as general maintenance at the property.  Electrician’s tasks involve communication with sttaff members and doing one’s inspection to diagnose each job. For this position, you should be able to diagnose electrical failures quickly and provide clear communication to senior management.

To be a successful Electrician, you should read blueprints, use diagnostic tools, and make decisions under pressure. As an excellent Electrician, you should have sound knowledge of your skills and the ability to pass on this knowledge to apprentices.

Electrician Duties & Responsibilities:

• Execute plans of electrical wiring for well functioning lighting and other electrical systems
• Install electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment (AC wiring, room wiring & fixtures, electrical panels, etc)
• Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.)
• Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components
• Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them
• Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.
• Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units
• Interpreting blueprints and drawing rough sketches as necessary
• Choosing, installing, and securing the performance of wires, plugs, panel boards, switchgear, switchboards, and similar.
• Maintain a safe working environment by following all company rules and OSHA safety standards
• Guiding and supervising other apprentices
• Complying with service standards, work instructions, and property managers requirements
• Maintain professional, respectful, and timely service

Master Electrician Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent
• Vocational, training, or apprenticeship of an electricians program
• Completion of a relevant apprenticeship / Proven experience as an electrician
• Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints
• Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
• Excellent physical condition and flexibility
• Valid driver’s license
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays with short or no notice
• Ability to work in confined spaces
