Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures.
- Set up and sterilize instruments before procedures.
- Prepare the work area for patient treatment by setting out instruments and materials.
- Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment.
- Take and record patients' medical and dental histories.
- Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures.
- Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health.
- Take dental radiographs (x-rays).
- Help to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including oral surgery, implant placement and restoration, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, endodontics, obstructive sleep apnea, in office whitening, etc.
Requirements
- Must be a Certified Dental Assistant.
- Must possess x-ray certification as per state or provincial regulations.
- Experience working as an Extended Duties Dental Assistant preferred.
- Knowledge of aseptic and sterilization techniques.
- Exceptional customer service skills and professional demeanor.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
- Commitment to adhering to safety guidelines and maintaining confidentiality of patient information under HIPAA guidelines.
- Practical experience with dental software and comfort with digital technology.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a dental office.
- Willingness to continue education in dental assistant services and specialties as required.
