Dental Assistant

DENTAL ASSISTANT

We are a private general dental practice in South Austin. Dr. Matthysse and the team take pride in our work ethic, working together in a kind and caring environment while respecting the team’s family life. We are looking for a Dental Assistant who is highly skilled, self-motivated, punctual, and will ensure excellent patient care.

Dental Assistant Duties & Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients to the dental office

  • Prepare patients for treatments or checkups, ensuring their comfort

  • Select and set up instruments, equipment, and material needed

  • Sterilize instruments according to regulations

  • Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry

  • Undertake lab tasks as instructed

  • Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions

  • Keep the dental room clean and well-stocked

  • Schedule appointments

  • Inventory and ordering supplies

Dental Assistant Requirements

  • Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods

  • Understanding of health & safety regulations

  • The ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing is a plus

  • Experience with implants is a plus

  • Experience placing aligner attachments is a plus

  • Open Dental Practice Management experience a plus

  • i-Tero and/or Prime experience a plus

  • Great pass offs

  • Excellent chart notes

  • Good communication and people skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Well-organized and reliable

  • High school diploma; Certified DA/RDA, xray certification and nitrous certification

Hours of Operation

Monday-Thursday 7:45am-5pm (12pm-1pm lunch) Occasional Fridays

Compensation & Benefits

  • Range of Pay: $20-$25/hr D.O.E.

  • Benefits: PTO, Paid Holidays, Vacation

  • Free dental for team and their immediate family members (excluding lab costs)
