Licensed Dental Assistant

Salary Range:  $28 - $31 hour

Our friendly General Family Dentistry practice is looking for a Licensed Dental Assistant to join our team!

You will be assisting the Doctor with all dental procedures, patient preparation, room set up and turnover, sterilization of instruments, and assistance with some hygiene activities. Radiograph/x-ray certification is required for this position as well and up to date license from Minnesota Board of Dentistry. Some very important factors to succeed in this position are  excellent patient care, great multi-tasking skills and great rapport with team members. We need a wonderful LDA for 1-2 days a week to start with short 6-7 hour shifts. 

Dental Assistant Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Getting patients ready for dental procedures.
  • Sterilizing and sanitizing equipment, setting up instruments, preparing supplies, and assisting with dental operations contribute to infection control.
  • When necessary, assisting dentists in the management of medical and dental emergencies.
  • When necessary, assisting dental hygienists with operations.
  • Taking excellent care of patients.
  • Exposing Dental x-rays and helping care for dental x-ray equipment
  • Under the Doctor supervision, sharing information on dental hygiene, oral health, and plaque reduction.
  • Reviewing medical and dental histories, as well as obtaining patient vital signs
  • Following the dentist’s instructions for patient and postoperative care.
  • Dental equipment maintenance.
  • Preliminary impressions for study casts, temporary crowns and custom trays
  • Fabricating temporary crowns and cementing them
  • Helping Doctor with pediatric hygiene visits if necessary

Dental Assistant Requirements:

  • In a recognized dental assisting school, have earned a license, certificate or an associate’s degree.
  • Certification in dental x-rays.
  • A high school degree is mandatory.
  • Communication skills, both written and vocal.
  • Dental instrument knowledge and sterilizing techniques.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
