Teacher II-Early Head Start

Phoenix, AZ 85006 • Full-Time

Salary Range:  $18.04 - $22.55 hour

*This position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus!

As a Teacher II, you will primarily be responsible for the general operations of the classroom and the supervision of the Teacher I. 


Essential Functions:

  • Serves as the primary caregiver in the classroom for four children and assigning four children to the Teacher I
  • Develops and posts weekly classroom lesson plan, including challenging and appropriate activities which are responsible to children’s changing needs, interests, and skills 
  • Develops individualized plans for each child, including developmental as well as IFSP goals 
  • Completes child-centered home visits for each enrolled child as required 
  • Completes parent-teacher conferences as required 
  • Speaks with children in a friendly, positive, courteous manner and listens to children with attention and respect 
  • Actively participates in and reinforcing children’s play 
  • Establishes consistent rules and behavioral expectations and conveys them clearly and consistently by using positive guidance methods 
  • Maintains a consistent, yet flexible, daily schedule where routines are established which enable children to predict events and develop a basic sense of trust 
  • Observes children to modify and enrich the learning environment 
  • Supports classroom goals as well as goals for individual children
  • Ensures that individual plans are consistently implemented 
  • Recognizes and allows for individual differences in development and abilities when assisting in the activity planning and learning experiences 
  • Encourages responsibility and independence in children as they are ready 
  • Promotes problem solving through open-ended questions and suggestions 
  • Maintains a clean and organized classroom 
  • Continually observes and documents children’s progress, growth, and development 
  • Completes all required forms and assigned paperwork, including CACFP mealtime documentation 
  • Supervises staff with clear and respectful direction and feedback 
  • Models center’s expectation for sensitivity and competency relating to diversity and cultural awareness. 

 Education/ Experience:

  • Associate's Degree and two years of related experience, Or
  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood or related field with a minimum of 12 credits related to infant/toddler development, Or 
  • Unrelated Associates Degree with 120 hours of formal early education training covering ages 0-3 and 480 hours of professional experience in a 0-3 age group setting
