Established in 2020, Perseus Learning Center was created to help individuals diagnosed with Autism through Applied Behavioral Analytical Therapy, also known as ABA Therapy.  We are a small, family run company and are looking for positive and flexible individuals to help us help the Autistic Communities in Mesa and Lakeside Arizona. 



Special Education Paraprofessional

Salary Range:  $16.00 - $20.00 hour

Position Summary

We are a private clinic that provides Academic Support to children with autism.  The Special Education Paraprofessional is responsible for helping to create an atmosphere that is positive for learning and that assists with behavior management with our clients. The paraprofessional will work in a small classroom setting (3-6 clients at a time) alongside the Academic Aids.  They will work with our Special Education Teacher in creating and implementing the academic activities.  Because we service children with autism, the lessons sometimes need to be adjusted and you will need flexibility with the lesson plans.  You will also need to be comfortable in managing behavior with special needs children. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Implementing lesson plans and activities that are appropriate to the age group involved   
  • In the school-setting to ensure children are engaged and following their daily schedule.
  • Maintains interaction with children at all times during small and whole group interactive learning.
  • Maintains a safe and clean atmosphere for the children at all times, following all safety procedures
  • Be a positive role model and Mentor to other staff members and students.
  • Be proactive in learning and becoming familiar with behavior therapy techniques
  • Document student progress both academically and behaviorally
  • Behavior support which includes physical management
  • Supervises children in classroom and outside on outings or fieldtrips
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High School Diploma or GED and must be 18 years old
  • Previous experience working in a special education setting, preferably experience with autism
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with wide range of individuals, including staff and parents.
  • Must abide by the company policies and procedures
  • Must have valid CPR certification and valid Level 1 Fingerprint clearance card
  • Able to maintain an overall positive and professional disposition and appearance
  • Effectively organize and implement, and lead educational activities
  • Physical ability to handle frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling and moving throughout the room.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience as a Behavioral Technician and doing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy very desirable 

Benefits and Pay:

Hourly pay starts at $16/hour. 

As a full-time employee, you will receive the following benefits: 

  • Up to 40 Hours of Accrued Paid time off available after 90 days of hire.  This benefit is also for part-time staff!
