ACCOUNTANT - ACCOUNT PAYABLE

MH Miles Company, CPA, PC is a certified public accounting firm with offices in Decatur, Georgia, Douglasville, GA, and Washington, DC. Our firm and its affiliates consist of certified public accountants, certified fraud examiners, management consultants, and support staff who have substantial experience in serving commercial concerns of all sizes, non-profit organizations, and governmental organizations. Our most important objective is to provide quality, efficient, professional personalized services to our clients. We specialize in providing services to four distinct industries: Transportation, Nutrition, Education, and Not-for-Profit.

The AP Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting department and Senior Accountant for the firm. The AP Accountant position requires a high-energy, self-directed, and meticulous individual.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principal and Internal Controls
  • Provide recommendation for improving AP Process.
  • Review MHMC & MHMFS invoices thoroughly for discrepancies and make corrections to invoice amount when necessary.
  • Verify invoice has the required approval before recording. 
  • Determine classification and General Ledger account coding before recording.
  • Organize and maintain vendor files from suppliers and creditors.
  • Upload MHMC & MHMFS invoices to Internal Accounting A/P Folder database 
  • Run checks for MHMC & MHMFS Partner’s signature on a weekly basis and make online payments.
  • Performs a range of special accounting projects as needed.
  • Check supplier accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions. 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (required)
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of general ledger accounting experience (required)
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Online
  • Working knowledge of the “class” and “project” feature in QuickBooks Online for the purpose of job costing.
  • Ability to establish priorities and multi-task while remaining organized and thorough.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of T-accounts.
  • Meticulous, collaborative, and deadline-oriented
  • Must have strong oral, written, reading comprehension, listening, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Time management skills and ability to adapt to change. 
  • Great computer skills and proficient in all Microsoft Office programs
  • Professional demeanor, attitude & initiative-taking
  • Strong in MS Excel, Pivot Tables, and V-Look ups
  • Strong organizational skills

SCHEDULE: 

  • 8 am to 5 pm (Firm Hours)
  • Monday – Friday (3 Days per week; 24 hours)
  • 60% On-site 1945 Mason Mill Road, Suite 200, Decatur GA 30033
