Child Nutrition Claim Specialist (Contract)

MH Miles Company, CPA, PC specializes in USDA child nutrition program compliance throughout the United States.  We are a certified public accounting firm with offices in Decatur, Georgia, Douglasville, GA, and Washington, DC. Our firm and its affiliates consist of certified public accountants, certified fraud examiners, management consultants, registered dietitians, and support staff who have substantial experience in serving commercial concerns of all sizes, non-profit organizations, and governmental agencies. 

 

We are seeking experienced USDA child nutrition claim specialists to conduct claim validation reviews for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).  This position is responsible for the completion of CNP claim validation reviews for various State Agencies (SA).  The primary responsibility is to properly determine the completeness, accuracy, and eligibility of each claim for reimbursement in compliance with the applicable Program regulations and SA policies.  This contract position is 100% remote. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, and analyze each claim for reimbursement for compliance with all required USDA child nutrition program guidance, federal and state rules, regulations, guidance, policies, and procedures
  • Complete assigned claim validation engagements timely 
  • Complete and maintain sufficient workpapers to support each validation report
  • Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned

 

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, nutrition, or a related field
  • 2 years’ experience with federal and state regulations of child nutrition programs, specifically the CACFP and SFSP
  • Ability to work with manual claim documentation and convert the data into an electronic format to analyze the claim data
  • Ability to use technology to streamline/enhance processes
  • Ability to accurately identify program noncompliance
  • Highly analytical with attention to detail 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Effective organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Experienced in processing high volume data entry 
  • Proficient in Excel, Word Microsoft Teams, and Zoom
