JOB DESCRIPTION –Construction Tradesman & General Labor

Defined Role:

This position is responsible for various construction duties.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, communicative, reliable, prides themselves on excellence, thrives in a fast-paced and goal- driven environment. Primary Responsibilities (may include but not limited to):

  • Desired trade skills; HVAC, Electrical, Carpenter, Plumbing, Welder, Brick Mason, Heavy Equipment Operator, Landscape, Pavers, Mold Remediation, Asbestos Abatement, etc.
  • Apartment Repairs & Maintenance
  • Keeping job site clean and organized                                                                  
  • Safe operation of tools of the trade (hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment, etc.)
  • Work outside in a wide variety of weather conditions and meet the physical demands of the position, including mobility needed to complete tasks
  • Climbing and operating on ladders 
  • Able to handle at least 60 lbs 
  • Effective communication with foremen, supervisors, and others 
  • Critical thinking and decision making
  • Working in a team environment
  • Contributing to team KPIs
  • Operating within OSHA standards and company safety policies at all times
  • May be required to go between several locations
  • Working with lumber, cutting and building products of all sizes
  • Building custom outdoor structures within code, planning accurately and efficiently (project examples: pergolas, cabanas, outdoor kitchens, decks, patios, etc)
  • Performing finishing stages for wood/concrete (stain, sealer, paint, etc.)
  • Communicating effectively with subcontractors, project build team and homeowners
  • Using smartphone applications and web-based software (i.e., BuilderTrend, Timeco, Slack, MS apps)
  • Duties can evolve depending on employee's skill sets and responsibilities of the role, which can fluctuate in response to daily client/business demands
  • Any other job-related activities requested by immediate supervisor

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the construction industry or home improvement
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Reliable transportation 
  • Dependable and ability to work under pressure 
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills, and attention to detail 
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities 
  • Ability to multi-task 
  • Ability to work independently on projects and collaborate as a team player
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and always displays a friendly and courteous demeaner towards residents, tenants and other team members
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check

Physical Requirements:

  • This position may include long hours spent walking, bending, lifting, climbing, reaching, and stretching
  • Extensive mobility and excellent physical condition
  • Ability to lift 60lbs as necessary
  • Ability to operate necessary hand tools to make repairs
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, climb, crawl, walk across rooftops, vacuum, move furniture as needed, complete physical inspections, etc
  • Ability to drive to and from jobs sites
  • Tolerance to all extremes of hot and cold weather
  • Repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and elbows may be required
  • May be involved with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic, or caustic chemicals, and the risk of electric shock
  • May be exposed to elevated noise levels
