The line greeter/manager is the first point of contact for customers during their wait to enter the store, The line greeter distributes and collects menus to customers in line in preparation for their entrance to the store. The line greeter answers any questions pertaining to the company and the menu as well as maintains organization of the line, ensuring its safe and orderly flow from end to beginning. The line greeter is a essential component in the bakery's pursuit of providing a customer experience that is beyond satisfactory, but endeavors to maximize bakery's connection with the customers while we maintain their audience as they wait. Additionally the line greeter/manager plays a key part in the speed of line movement by rehearsing menus picks, payment options, and cashier set up with guest before they enter.
Standard Duties:
- Display an affinity for our products, core values and company philosophy
- Attend team meetings with 100% attendance
- Create and maintain company culture
- Conduct all duties and actions in a safe and secure manner, following safety guidelines as weak as all company policies and procedures
- Be able to work in a diverse team, stay consistently professional and always follow safety standards
Position Duties:
- Set up line organization with provided tools and stanchions etc.
- Manage flow of guest into the bakery - as guests depart bakery, invite new guests in
- Engage customers before they step into our bakery, share company history, updates, new and seasonal items, and answer any inquiries they may have
- Discuss menu items, including bestsellers, traditional selections, vegetarian, vegan as well as kid friendly items
- Distribute and retrieve menus, raise awareness of QR codes
- Determine line placement with considerations of weather ie.e, bring line under awning with raining
- Identify an exceptional circumstance that may require special handling such accessibility considerations, large groups, or other special accommodations.
- Prepare guest before they step into the bakery by guiding and helping them to decide what they may want to try
- Inform guest of the various forms of payments we accept
- Provide them with alternative options when certain items may be out of stock
- Invite guests to engage with us on our various forms of social media - expanding their connection with us continues even after they have stepped out of the bakery
- Engage with FOH Supervisor and staff regarding inventory status of certain items that are unavailable
- Other various duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Authorized to work in the US per state and federal law
- Must be 18 years or older
- Ability to verbally communicate in English effectively and comfortably
- Possess/Obtain and keep current all necessary licenses/permits required for the position throughout duration of employment
- 3+ years customer service experience *Preferred
- 2+ years experience working as a tour guide/line management *Preferred
- Must be available weekends
- Ability to project voice confidently and audibly over a crowd
- Physical stamina to work on feet, walking along the line for a good duration of shift
- Natural disposition for social engagement and interaction
- Desire to engage with guests about the bakery and company as a whole
- Comfortable working with the public for duration of shift
- Comfortable being photographed/filmed by the public
- Build and gather knowledge about the menu and company
- Ability to learn, retain information and follow instructions
- Have reliable transportation
- Follow all company procedures and protocols
Working Environment & Physical Demands
- Work in the bakery setting, which includes exposure to high amount of flour, spices and meat smells
- Must be comfortable with the different working environment the job entails, (high volume customers, crowded areas, basement area, etc.)
- Must be comfortable working in front of the public, often displaying your work processes to onlookers while being photographed and engaged in conversation with the public/customers
- Constantly moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
- Frequently remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks and frequently moving from one worksite to another
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 300lbs in all directions, lifting up to 50lbs and maneuvering heavy, tall carts as needed safely
- Constantly communicating loudly, effectively, and safely with others to enhance information, warning other staff of their presence and movements to meet safety practice standards
- Be able to exchange safety communication and direction from other staff while working in a loud environment
- Constantly repeating motions that include the wrists, hands and or fingers
- Constantly assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned
