The Bakery BOH Manager oversees the production and back of house team at our flagship store, Pike Place Market. The BOH Manager works alongside department managers, the company's vendors, and upper management. The BOH Manager plays a key role in ensuring a world class product quality within a high volume setting, while maintaining optimal production processes and high-performing team.

Managerial Duties:
- Observe and enforce company policies, procedures and goals - both short & long term
- Ability to delegate and hold staff accountable to projects, timelines, and accuracy
- Anticipate and plan hiring needs and recruit accordingly
- Ensure all the onboarding procedures are executed in timely manner
- Hold weekly meetings with leadership team
- Communicate relevant information in a timely manner across stakeholders
- Oversee the reporting of payroll accurately and timely
- Act as a mentor and resource for staff
- Ensure consistent HR staff notes are executed and maintained
- Issues warnings and other disciplinary actions as needed
- Ensure that timely and consistent employee reviews are performed
- Assessing business needs to determine over/under staffing, overseeing adjustments as needed
- Have oversight of day to day operations across all assigned departments
- Monitor direct employees and oversee the monitoring of non-direct employees productivity and provide constructive on-going feedback, coaching and development
- Oversee timely development and disciplinary action as needed
- Oversee weekly and monthly cost reports and budgets
- Create protocols and procedures
- Create job descriptions
- Create, read, complete and adjust all regular daily reporting
- Curate, schedule and lead weekly/monthly staff meetings, in an engaging and productive manner
- Manage and resolve any emergencies as needed
- Oversee the hiring, orientation and training to maintain successful lifespan and/or termination of staff
- Training and coaching of direct employees
Position Duties:
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; complying with health and legal regulations; maintaining security systems
- Create department schedule - ensure appropriate labor needs correspond with sales goals
- Report necessary equipment repair and maintenance to facilities department
- Oversee the production and baking of thousand of pieces daily to company standards
- Create and follow a production schedule and prioritize tasks
- Clean and maintain equipment and work space used in food preparation according to established procedures for health and sanitation and safe work practices
- Oversee efficient inventory practices (ordering, FIFO, etc. )
- Detect and ensure disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment and/or other unusual conditions
- Ensure all staff safely move and operate throughout the bakery, communicating clearly and loudly, according to company protocols
- Attentively and accurately follow recipes
- Set and monitor seasonal production workflow changes
- Set daily quotas for production team
- Employ basic math skills necessary for recipe conversions and/or modifications
- Safely operate all equipment in small spaces ensuring all staff are doing likewise
- Utilize and oversee staff usage of all provided PPE equipment, ensuring stock and accessibility at all times
- Other various duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Must be authorized to work in the US per state & federal law
- Must be at least 18 years or older
- Ability to provide coverage when needed
- Ability to get to work on time for scheduled shifts
- Possess or obtain valid permits needed for positions keeping current throughout duration of employment
- 2 years of food production experience required
- 2 years of baking experience
- 5 years of managerial experience
- Experience managing staff of at least 7 - 12 individuals
- Strict adherence to company philosophy/mission statement/sales goals
- Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
- Organized and able to create multiple timelines, budges and schedules
- Encouraging to team and staff; able to mentor and lead
- Ability to learn, retain information
- Possess strategic and excellent communication skills
- Follow all company policies protocols & procedures
Working Environment & Physical Demands
- Work in bakery setting, which includes exposure to high amounts of flour, spices and meat smells
- Must be comfortable with the different working environments the job entails (high volume customers, crowded areas, basement area, etc.)
- Must be comfortable working in front of the public, often displaying your work processes to onlookers while being photographed and engaged in conversation with the public/customers
- Constantly moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
- Frequently remaining in a stationary positions, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- Frequently moving about to accomplish task and frequently moving from one worksite to another
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 300 pounds in all directions, lifting up to 50 pounds and maneuvering heavy, tall carts as needed safely
- Constantly communicating loudly, effectively, and safely with others to exchange information, warning other staff of their presents and movements to meet safety practice standards
- Be able to exchange safety communication and direction from other staff while working in a loud environment
- Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Frequently operating machinery and oven equipment
