PET/CT Technologist
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist, responsible for performing all Nuclear Medicine patient care services. In addition, they ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive environment while working in conjunction with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, front office, and clinical staff.This role requires working in a clinical setting with the team in a collaborative workflow model.
Primary Responsibilities: The PET/CT Technologist operates computed tomography (CT) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
- Prepare and transmit images to the radiologist for read and report results to providers
- Retrieve and archive radiographic reports
- Review (accuracy check) and complete provider orders
- Perform detailed and accurate data collection during clinical intake of patients to include taking and recording vital signs and patient history
- Assist patients as needed with walking, transfer, exam prep, etc.
- Proper, concise, and complete EMR documentation and paper-based documentation for all assessments and procedures
- Perform accurate PET/CT exam as ordered by the provider while practicing radiation safety precautions.
- Reviews exam orders for scheduling and protocol accuracy
- Ensures that information essential to daily operations is passed between the technologists, receptionists, radiologist on duty, and Lead/Managers
- Prepares and administers contrast media and radiopharmaceuticals according to site-specific protocols and under the direction of the Radiologist
- Assists patient on to examination table and adjusts positioning devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by Physician
Nuclear Medicine Technologist requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program and hold an active CNMT or ARRT(N) Certification
- Documented training and experience in CT. ARRT registered (RT) and radiography (R) and/or computed tomography (CT) certified and/or NMTCB registered (CNMT)
- Detailed knowledge of PET and CT equipment protocols
