Medical Assistant

Salary Range:  $28 - $32 hour

Position Summary: 

Complete administrative and clinical tasks, such as scheduling appointments and preparing patients for examination. Works with clinical staff to manage patient schedules and assists cardiac nurse with timely updates to patient scheduling and assist with exam preparation to educate patients prior to procedure to coordinate patient care.

Duties include but are not limited to 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Interview patients upon arrival and review medical history
    • Explaining treatment procedures to patients
    • Preparing patients for examinations
    • Reviewing medical history with patient prior to exam
    • Correspondence and follow up with healthcare providers and patients. 
    • Follow up with detail documentation - obtain any missing information from referral intake prior to patient scheduling 
    • Request information needed from referring office prior to patient scheduling
    • Verify patient insurance authorization
    • Correspondence with billing company and follow-up to ensure information accurately transferred

Skills:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance and CPT codes to allow for auth/Insurance verification and accuracy review for billing
  • highly organized with attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, and the ability to perform core administrative tasks efficiently and effectively. Outstanding interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills with professional etiquette, the ability to work independently and demonstrate good judgment.
  • Excellent computer skills -MS Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Medical software PACs, EPIC (not required will train) 

Job Requirements

  • Excellent people skills.
  • Computer abilities: It’s crucial to know how to use a computer and are skilled with Microsoft Office products. MS Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel

Education and Experience 

  • Preferred qualifications
    • Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university -preferred
  • 2 years related medical office experience and/or training preferred.
  • Familiar with CPT procedures code
