Collect, verify and edit GIS data sets to provide mapping services and technical research and analysis related to geographical data sets using software applications
Design, develop and maintain data sets by using current ESRI Geographic Information Systems Software (ArcGIS), related ArcGIS desktop applications and SQL server and oracle database platforms to present data visualization
Administer geographic data development, verification, management and quality control/assurance
Aid and provide technical support to staff in other government agencies related to the exchange of shared GIS data
Develop sustainable systems of collecting and managing data points
Develop and maintain data layers to provide information on geographic features
Provide GIS technical reports to stakeholders and responds to inquiries related to District GIS datasets and GIS issues
Attend meetings, conference, workshops and trainings to remain current on principles, practices and new developments related to GIS
Coordinate with appropriate city, county, state and federal agencies to obtain GIS spatial data sets and database.
Performs other related tasks required.
Required Experience:
Minimum three (3) years professional technical experience using updated versions of ArcGIS in a GIS or cartographic setting in geography, education, engineering or urban planning field including developing and maintaining geodatabase platforms
Proficiency in current versions of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related computer software such as ArcGIS, ArcEditor, ArcMap, ArcReader, ArcGIS Spatial Analysis, Maplex, ArcGIS Explorer, ArcIMS and ArcServer
Required Education:
Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in geography, computer science, mathematics or any related field.
Candidates without a degree may compensate with experience on a year for year basis

Principles of research, data development and geoprocessing techniques and methods
Sources of geographic spatial data sets and coordinate systems
Terminology, best practices, and technology in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and cartographic mapping
