Overview:
- The Airport Grounds Inspector will oversee/inspect the improvements of the existing projects. Will administer contracts, review, and interpret design plans and drawings and provide technical advice. Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructures such as roadways, highways, bridges, and overpasses.
Work will be conducted at Oakland Airport, Oakland, CA
Responsibilities:
- Prepare reports, designs, and drawings
- Act as a liaison between the various representations on the project
- Make calculations about loads and stresses
- Review, advise on and select appropriate construction materials
- Provide technical advice
- Analyze configurations of the basic components of a structure
- Monitor and inspect all work undertaken by contractors to ensure structural soundness
- Obtain planning and/or building regulations approval
- Monitor and inspect pavement, grounds, and asphalt to ensure being built within safety compliances
Qualifications:
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations
- Ability to read and understand work-related material
- Clear communicator both verbally and in writing
- Excels in being a full contributor in a team environment
- Possess project and budget management skills
- Detail-oriented
- Airport asphalt runway or similar experiences preferred.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred
- A minimum of 3 years of experience on large projects
