Mill-Turn Machinist

Location: 3617 E La Salle St, Phoenix, AZ 85040 (40th St and Southern)
Shift: Day shift
REQUIRED: Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship or Valid Permanent Resident status is required.
MILL-TURN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Setup & operate Mill-Turn multi-axis machines to produce high precision aerospace components on ferrous and non-ferrous materials
- Setup and operate robot gantry-based part loading systems for production
- Daily machine maintenance (checking fluid levels, cleaning out chips, etc.)
- Maintaining a clean and organized work space
- Tool management, entering in offsets to compensate for tool wear etc. Replacement of worn and damaged tools (inserts, boring bars. Etc.)
- Adhering to all company and industry safety standards and protocols. Understanding of industry buy-off requirements, company specific handling & FOD requirements, product identification requirements, filling out company paperwork properly (MOT, Inspection Travelers, Job Sheets, etc.)
- Maintaining correct part counts on the MOT for the operations performed
- Ability to hold tolerances of .0002” - .0005” while maintaining a high level of productivity
- Able to work independently and stay on task – operate 2 machines regularly
- Ability to problem solve and communicate process improvement suggestions with management
- Communicate any job-related issues/questions (part feature, program, inspection, etc.) to lead personnel for resolution and or clarification
- Reporting all machine collisions and malfunctions to lead personnel
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Familiarity with Mazak machines a plus
- Proficient with standard types of measuring inspection equipment to verify machined dimensions or product – Indicating Micrometers, Bore Gages, Sunnen Gage, & Test Indicators
- Read and interpret of B/P’s including assemblies, dimensions, tolerances, symbols, notes, abbreviations, GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing), and any other standard nomenclature per customer, government, or industry standards and following directions
- Ability to read and interrupt G & M machine codes and program understanding is a plus
- Experience holding tolerances of .0002” - .0005” and surface finish requirements of 16 is a plus
- Strong attention to detail, quality-focused, and willing to learn
- General knowledge of standard shop practices and equipment
Basic Qualifications:
- High School or GED
- 5+ years’ experience running multi-axis Mill-Turn machines preferred but not required
- Understanding of robot gantry-based part loading systems is preferred
- Ability to use computer software, company ERP system, clocking in and out of jobs, etc.
- Familiarity with Mazak machines a plus
- Must be able to stand for the majority of the work shift
