2nd Shift Production Supervisor
Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing Industry
Location: North Phoenix - 2688 E Rose Garden Ln, Phoenix, AZ 85050
Shift: Night shift, Full time (on-site), exempt
Due to ITAR, all employees must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
The 2nd Shift Production Supervisor actively leads all production activities on 2nd Shift at CMI Group. Drives continuous improvement in a lean manufacturing culture and ensures the highest level of quality while exceeding customer’s delivery schedules and service expectations. Directs 2nd shift production operations and meets established schedules cost effectively.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises 20+ employees (CNC Lathes, Mills, Manuals, and Deburr)
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains employees
- Manages daily workflow of the department and provides constructive/timely performance evaluations
- Manages employee job performance and disciplinary actions
Responsibilities:
- Shows leadership and guidance to subordinates
- Directs priorities, develops and maintains policies and accountability
- Working knowledge of CNC Lathes, Mills, and Manual production processes. Has the skills necessary to solve production issues impacting the Lathes, Mills, and Manual areas
- Know how to productively operate and maintain a variety of CNC Lathes, Mills, and Manual Machines
- Provides training and counseling for business and personal growth
- Supports and develops lean manufacturing strategies and implementation. Targets a world-class level for all 5S programs and productivity
- An agent of change, leads on-going cultural transformation to become the "customer focused" supplier of choice to the industry
- Implements best practices and process standardization, including capacity sharing
- Ensures manufacturing schedule obligations are met, with an emphasis on cost control and improved efficiencies
- Sets and monitors manufacturing performance levels to meet quality and delivery requirements, with effective production costs
- Ensures that all corrective action identified as product manufacturing quality deficiencies are implemented efficiently and effectively
- Direct and integrate problem solving efforts affecting operations effectiveness, efficiency, quality and profitability
- Responsible for safety and accident free operation
- Ensures fair and consistent enforcement and applications of disciplinary policy
- Develops and submits for approval, major capital equipment and facility equipment requirements
- Recommends disposal of equipment beyond useful life or redundant to current or future business undertakings
- Coordinates and promotes communications with senior managers to maintain highest standards of cooperation and understanding in all business matters
- Makes decisions relative to cash flow, inventory levels, purchases, scheduling, and prioritizing on a regular basis
- Continuous analysis of plant load and capacity drives decisions related to manpower allocations, capital equipment, and support staffing
- Ongoing analysis of financial performance drives decisions related to continuous improvement activities, purchasing decisions, and shop prioritizing
- Identifies, coaches, and develops team members through training/qualification process, performance reviews, coaching, support and delegation as appropriate for their development level
- Insures employees are properly trained in their position and additional positions as applies
- Establishes an environment that is conducive to collaboration and teamwork, promotes positive employee relations and takes steps to prevent or diffuse conflicts
- Coordinate and communicate with the 1st Shift Leaders to ensure all 2nd Shift requirements are met daily
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
- High School Diploma required
- 2+ years supervisory/management experience in aerospace, tight tolerance machining industry or equivalent training/experience
