Compliance Engineer
Full time, on-site required
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Experienced Compliance Engineer responsible for implementation and maintenance of company-wide compliance to the following requirements: ITAR/EAR, counterfeit part compliance for military customers, AS9100, JCP compliance and conflict materials. Manage risk-related projects, reporting channels, and approval of compliance documents. Maintains the QMS, and conflict material compliance to the customer. Maintains and creates policies and develops training and preventative programs to ensure compliance.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Work with various functional areas to as needed to develop, train, maintain and implement appropriate strategies to meet business requirements and ensure full compliance with all regulatory agencies
- Prepare and submit necessary information as required to support the customer
- Provide guidance and interpretation of regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), Anti-boycott Regulations, US Census, Customs Regulations and JCP compliance
- Assist in the development and implementation of trade compliance policies and procedures, such as internal control plans for approved authorizations
- Manage all post approval activities such as recordkeeping, reporting requirements
- Perform compliance assessments of license and agreement files and assist as necessary in any investigations of potential compliance violations
- Support and implementation corrective actions that result from compliance violations
- Review of program contractual statements of work to assist in the development of the work scope for each customer contract
- Make formal presentations in meetings, training environments and respond to questions from management, employees, customers and vendors related to compliance
Skills/Abilities:
- Maintains engineering team accomplishments by reviewing open issues and action items, coordinating actions, and contributing information and analysis to team meetings and reports
- Prepares compliance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing measurement data and trends
- Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging compliance engineering practices and standards, participating in educational opportunities and professional organizations, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks
- Enhances engineering and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Implements product testing and process analysis
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or other industry-related field required; MBA preferred
- At least 10 years of industry-related experience including three years in upper management required
- Experience of 3+ years in the area of compliance to aerospace/military standards and Global Trade
- Proven ability to make and meet commitments
- Results oriented
- Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills
