CNC Manufacturing Department Lead Position Overview:

LOCATION:

  • 1515 W 17th St, Tempe, AZ 85281

The Manufacturing Lead is responsible to actively lead all production activities of the department. The position is responsible for the day to day operational and quality performance of the department as well as driving continuous improvement and producibility improvement activities..

The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary and will directly or indirectly supervise up to 30 employees.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Primarily responsible for daily delivery, quality, and safety performance of the manufacturing area
  • Provide leadership and guidance to subordinates
  • Provide direction on priorities, policies and accountability
  • Provide equipment, manpower, and facilities for a safe, productive workplace
  • Provide training and counseling for business and personal growth
  • Inspire employees to improve personally and professionally
  • Hold employees accountable for their decisions and result
  • Support and develop Lean Manufacturing strategies and implementation, within area of responsibility, targeting a world class level for all 5S programs and productivity
  • Act as an agent of change, lead the on-going cultural transformation to become the "customer focused" supplier of choice to the industry
  • Implement best practices and process standardization, including capacity sharing
  • Ensure agreed manufacturing schedule obligations are met, with an emphasis on cost control and improved efficiencies
  • Set and monitor manufacturing performance levels to meet quality and delivery requirements, with effective production costs
  • Ensure that all corrective action identified as product manufacturing quality deficiencies, are implemented efficiently and effectively
  • Direct and integrate problem solving efforts affecting operations effectiveness, efficiency, quality and profitability
  • Responsible for safety and accident free operation of the plant
  • Ensure fair and consistent enforcement and applications of disciplinary policy
  • Develop and submit for approval, major capital equipment and facility equipment requirements
  • Coordinate and promote communications with senior managers to maintain highest standards of cooperation and understanding in all business matters
  • Make decisions relative to cash flow, inventory levels, purchases, scheduling, prioritizing, etc. on a regular basis
  • Continuous analysis of plant Load and Capacity drives decisions related to manpower allocations, capita
  • Ongoing analysis of financial performance drives decisions related to continuous improvement activities, purchasing decisions, and shop prioritizing

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED

  • In depth knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes, machining preferred
  • Excellent leadership and management abilities
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong computer skills are required. Microsoft Office products used on a daily basis
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, Quality System, and SPC tools
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Flexible, depending on relevant experience
  • Experience Required: 5+ years supervisory/management experience in aerospace, tight tolerance machining industry or equivalent training/experience.
