Position Overview

The Continuous Improvement Technician (CI Tech) provides support to the manufacturing facility by supporting daily maintenance on machines (Checking fluid levels, filling fluids, cleaning of chips, etc…) Also provide support to the setup by pre-kitting tools, fixtures, gages and confirming programs and materials are ready to go. The CI Tech will also support the visual management activities of the Operational Excellence and Lean Manufacturing deployment.

Machine – Maintenance:

  • Daily Check and filling of fluids of the machines (Oils, coolants, etc..)
  • Follow standard daily forms – fills out forms daily
  • Reports all discrepancies on the floor to the supervisor (ex: Leaks, tripping hazards, etc…)
  • Communicates any job related issues / questions to supervisor for resolution / clarification
  • Support other maintenance and facilities activities as needed and directed by supervisor
  • Maintain a clean and organized workplace or specific project site

Operational Excellence / Lean Setup Support:

  • Preparation of the kitting of parts, fixtures, tooling, gages & programs; to include removal of such items from the area after operation
  • Company specific handling & FOD requirements
  • Support training activities
  • Assist and prepare documents with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc…)
  • Support in layout organization to include moving equipment, shelving and taping areas for 5S organization

Responsibilities:

  • Support production by filling coolants, oils and cleaning filters
  • Prepare carts & kits needed for machine setup (Lathe, Mill, Grinding operations)
  • Weekly report for the setup kits
  • Daily visual management deployment
    1. Tape lines & make signs for racks, operations, etc…
    2. Install visual signs / labels
    3. Setup Workstations
    4. Clean Workstations
    5. Prepare documents for visual management boards
  • Support data entry to the programming / OPEx team (Setup sheets or productivity data, etc…)
  • After completion of job, will remove the existing kits / materials / tooling fixtures / gages and return to the proper locations (Tool crib, internal racks, quality, etc…)
  • Marks and identifies tools and fixtures according to shop standards
  • Assist in operation in shop visual management activities under supervisor direction

Basic Qualifications

  • Basic requirements
    1. Data Analysis
    2. Good Organizational Skills
    3. Use of Microsoft Office
    4. Knowledge of basic hand tools
    5. Ability to understand machining processes
    6. Understand basic information in drawings and tool descriptions

Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, lift, bend, stoop, squat, sit and/or walk the majority of the shift
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted
