Cassavant Machining - Defense & Aerospace Machine Shop (South Phoenix - 40th St & Southern)

$1,000 new hire bonus paid after 6 months of employment, less taxes - for DAY shift.

$2,500 new hire bonus paid after 6 months of employment, less taxes - for DAY , NIGHT or WEEKEND shift.

Grinder/Machinist

Operates grinding machines to assemble products and produce parts to established blueprint and engineering specifications

Grind Machinist Duties / Responsibilities

• Grinds and blends steel to prepare for paint or powder
• Selects, mounts, attaches and calibrates a variety of attachments to grind angles, contours, lines, spheres, etc. onto surfaces
• Complete all required paperwork properly – inspection reports, spc, job travelers, etc.
• Work in tolerances of .0002-.0005
• Able to work independently and stay on task – operate 2 machines regularly
• Ability to problem solve and communicate process improvement suggestions with management

Grind Machinist Required Skills / Abilities

• Familiarity with Okuma and Kellenberger Grinders
• Proficient with standard types of inspection equipment – Indicating Micrometers, Bore Gages, Sunnen Gage, Test Indicators
• Experience in grinding holding tolerances preferred
• Strong attention to detail, quality-focused, and willing to learn
• General knowledge of operating hand tools, portable power tools, and bench tools
• Ability to read and interpret written information and follow directions

Grind Machinist Education / Experience

• High School or GED
• CNC experience preferred but not required
• 5+ years ID/OD grinding experience preferred in an aerospace work environment
