Corporate Accountant

Salary Range:  $80000 - $100000 year

We are assisting our client with their search for a Corporate Accountant to be based in Englewood, NJ. This is an in-office role working with a team of professional staff in a comfortable and collegial atmosphere. In this role you will have the opportunity to create the playbook and OWN your area of responsibility. You will have wide-ranging exposure to multiple industries and business ventures (hospitality, real estate and much more) with this highly regarded firm.

DAY TO DAY, YOU WILL…

  • Support Fiscal Services: You will play a crucial role in the Accounting Department with responsibilities for assisting with financial reporting, journal entry preparation, monthly closings, complex account reconciliations, audit preparations, tax preparations, customer support, and ad hoc financial projects and reporting.
  • Maintain Financial Systems: You will manage and balance the automated consolidation system by inputting data, scheduling necessary tasks, and verifying the accuracy of information. You will complete account reconciliations and conduct budget variance and other financial statement analyses.
  • General Ledger Management: You will prepare general ledger entries, maintain records and files, and reconcile accounts to ensure financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Support Management and Operations: You will provide accounting support by reviewing financial information, converting data to the general ledger system, and obtaining supplementary information for preparing comprehensive financial statements.
  • Financial Statement Preparation: You will assist in preparing accurate and timely internal and external financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual) by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger and various departments.
  • Ensure Compliance and Controls: You will ensure proper financial and internal controls are in place and provide research and recommendations for improvements or changes.
  • Answer Financial Questions: You will research and interpret data to answer accounting and financial questions from management and other stakeholders.
  • Support the Team: You will perform other accounting functions and provide support to other accounting staff as needed, including accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) tasks.

 

YOU HAVE…

  • a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with 2-4 years of experience in an accountant role – accounting experience in hospitality or a closely related industry is HIGHLY PREFERRED. 
  • a strong understanding of General Ledger and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • high-level proficiency with Intaact or similar accounting software; familiarity with Hospitality Management Systems (e.g., Cloudbeds) is a plus.
  • high Excel proficiency with pivot tables, VLOOKUP, index/match, and more
  • strong detail-orientation with excellent time management and organizational skills and a strong sense of urgency when it comes to meeting deadlines
  • the ability to research, analyze, and interpret data to solve complex financial issues effectively.
