ABOUT THE JOB
You will be responsible for the quality of occupational therapy services provided, incorporating state of the art knowledge to assigned children’s needs. This position is 100% on-site and candidates MUST live in the NYC area. Our client is a year-round school and only works with children ages 3-5 years.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Provide screening, evaluation, and therapy services as assigned.
- Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences to determine diagnosis and develop appropriate treatment plans for assigned children.
- Provide consultation on issues involving effective motor development to teaching staff and other appropriate personnel and programs.
- Provide counseling to families regarding their child’s motor development and stimulation.
- Participate in in-service training and supervision.
- Seek professional growth through maintaining current knowledge and skills pertinent to the performance of job responsibilities.
- Maintain session notes, annual progress reports and IEPs using NYC DOE and KCSC approved software and make available such records and reports as required by the department and Agency.
- Perform other assigned duties as defined and directed by the supervisor.
YOU WILL HAVE...
- A master’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited college PLUS New York State licensure as an Occupational Therapist (required). note: Candidates who have applied for their NY OT License are also strongly encouraged to apply!
- Previous experience in evaluating and treating children with disabilities (strongly preferred).
- Skills in evaluation and assessment of students’ needs. Excellent oral communication and written skills.
- A supportive, positive and patient attitude and the ability to work well with others.
- Ability to supervise children outside while exposed to the sun, rain, and/or weather and temperature changes adhering to the playground rules and gym play zones. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to consistently lift children up to 50 pounds from floor to waist height.
- Ability to observe and respond to children’s needs, emergencies, and/or conflicts that might occur in the classroom, playground, and in common areas.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish is a PLUS!
