Kennedy Children's Center is hiring a School Nurse for their Bronx location. IMPORTANT: This position is 100% on-site and candidates MUST live in the NYC area. Kennedy Children's Center is a year-round school and only works with children ages 3-5 years. 

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the provision of nursing services as required by KCC programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

● Ensure that all immunizations and physical exams are up to date and serve as the liaison with parents with respect to the children’s needs as appropriate, including Health Care Plans.

● Respond to, provide follow up on, complete reports and maintain records on all medical incidents, emergencies and accidents.

● Administer, record, monitor and review all prescription and non-prescription medications and any information related to the child’s reactions to such medication. Handle prescription medication in accordance with Regulations and the Health Care Plans.● Provide first aid as needed.

● Maintain first aid and medical supplies, and medical equipment in accordance with Agency policy and procedures and regulatory requirements.

● Provide consultation and education on health and hygiene issues of classes as well as individual children.

● Maintain daily medication records and statistics and ensure that all consents for medication are up to date.● Monitor the school environment to ensure adequate infection control procedures.

● Provide on – call medical emergency coverage while children are in the day programs.

● Cooperate in the securing of the needed Occupational and Physical Therapy prescriptions.

● Perform other assigned duties as defined and directed by the Medical Consultant and/or director, Health and Social Service.

QUALIFICATIONS

RN license (state of New York) and Bachelor's degree,  Previous experience (at least 1 year) in pediatrics required. Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred. BLS Certification preferred.
