The Plumbing Supervisor is an expert Plumber who leads, motivates, monitors, and supervises a team of Plumbers to ensure they produce quality work. The position is responsible for:
- Overseeing the work of plumbers.
- Ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to code.
- Training new employees or developing future leaders in their department.
- Customer development.
The right candidate will have:
- Strong leadership skills and a clear understanding of how to manage people effectively.
- Strong organizational skills as they will often be in charge of managing multiple projects at once, which requires them to juggle competing demands and make decisions.
- Be able to meet with customers and be able to generate profitable work.
- Excellent phone and interpersonal skills.
- Estimating experience.
- Some office computer skills including Word, office, and Outlook.
- Strong self-starter.
The right candidate will be able to:
- Direct plumbing staff engaged in the installation, inspection, maintenance, service and repair of all plumbing systems including, but not limited to, valves, sinks, faucets, drinking fountains, and all associated piping.
- Read and comprehend schematics, blueprints, and various drawings.
- Supervise day-to-day operation of the Plumbing department; verify employee timesheets for accuracy; approve and submit.
- Provide hands-on supervision of maintenance and repairs; direct and perform a variety of skilled plumbing tasks including troubleshooting malfunctions, as well as developing a plan of action to resolve problems.
- Oversee the use, care and operation of plumbing-related hand tools and power equipment.
- Work with other department supervisors to coordinate tasks requiring group effort.
- Communication effectively in a professional, diplomatic, empathetic, and tactful manner using preferred method and level as applicable to the job.
- Shop materials through several different vendors for availability and price.
