Salary Range:  $20.00 - $23.00 hour

Seeking skilled and experienced litigation paralegal. Applicant must be proficient in the litigation process, to include drafting pleadings and motions, responding to written discovery requests, updating case files, obtaining and summarizing records and more. Candidate must be reliable and display professionalism in appearance and communication skills. Organizational skills, a strong grasp of the proper use of grammar and the temperament for interaction with other legal professionals, the general public and a diverse clientele. Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a paralegal preferred.

 Candidate must have a minimum of three years’ experience in bankruptcy and/or commercial litigation and should possess a working knowledge of the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure and the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure. Position requires significant attention to detail and support to the managing partner in drafting complex pleadings. Compensation commensurate with experience.

 

The selected candidate would be hired as a part-time employee of 1st Choice Law, not an independent contractor. We are looking for somebody who has at least 20/30 hours per week of availability, and the starting pay is $22 per hour. We are a growing business and are looking for a paralegal that is excited to partner with us and is interested in a long-term role with our company.


Responsibilities


·    Responsibilities will include drafting documents, executing documents with clients, assistant information gathering for court if needed.

·    Prepare, process and respond to correspondence, memos, e-mails, voice mail messages, etc. ·     

·    Handle telephone calls (screen, direct appropriately, respond to queries), escalate issues to appropriate counsel

·     Assist in the preparation of and completion of documents, contracts, agreements and general legal materials

·    Create, maintain and update calendars

·    Create and maintain filing and record keeping systems

·    Perform all other duties as assigned

·         Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.

·         Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

 Education and Experience:

·    Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required;

·    Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred.

·     Paralegal certificate required.

·     Some related experience preferred.
