Mechanical Engineering Designer II

3636 N Central Ave, Ste., Phoenix, AZ 85012 • Design • Engineering • Production • Full-Time

Salary Type:  DOE

 This is a mid-level position for the design of Mechanical systems, working independently on most tasks.

Typical Duties:

The following duties are typical of the position, but are not all encompassing. Each person is expected to help out in whatever duties are required to deliver a quality product on schedule.

 

  • Design of Mechanical, Plumbing, and Control Systems for complex projects or multi-disciplinary projects. Integrate the design with the work of other disciplines.
  • Develop the production of CAD drawings and Revit models, diagrams, schedules, details, specifications, and cost opinions for a variety of projects.
  • Apply knowledge of applicable Codes, standards, and owner criteria in the development of project designs, including the use of relevant Codes, standards, and criteria outside the Mechanical/Plumbing design discipline.
  • Perform field work during the design and construction phases of projects, including documentation of existing conditions, observation of construction progress, resolution of construction issues, and coordination with the related work of other disciplines.
  • Perform construction-period tasks, including interpretation of construction documents, submittal review, response to contractor questions, and preparation of record documents.
  • Responsible to meeting project schedule, budget, and quality requirements within the Mechanical department.
  • Be responsible for and practice considerable autonomy in regards to relationships with internal and external clients, as well as subconsultants, contractors, vendors, and others.

 Knowledge and Experience Required:

 

  • Minimum 7 years' previous design experience.
  • BSME/BSAE from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Highly proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Revit, discipline-specific modeling software such as Pipe-Flo, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, and office productivity software.
  • Working experience with programs including Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, MS Office (excel, word, outlook, power point).
  • EIT preferred

 

Relationship to Others:

  • Reports to MEP Manager.
