Sr Commissioning Provider

2939 E Broadway Blvd Tucson, AZ 85716 • Engineering • Project Management • Full-Time

Salary Type:  DOE

The Senior Commissioning Provider will provide commissioning, retro-commissioning, on-going commissioning and energy related services for complex buildings and systems. This position can be full-time or part-time, and based in either our Tucson or Phoenix office.

 Responsibilities:

  • Manage start-up process and implement checklists for use by mechanical contractors. 
  • Perform field inspections, witness equipment start-ups, and test and balance activities.
  • Complete functional performance tests and oversee process with contractors.
  • Review and optimize building controls and energy management systems. 
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with Clients, Consultants, Contractors and other agencies of the project team.
  • Support the development of methods, tools, and standards as our commissioning practice evolves.
  • Serve as mechanical subject matter expert for multi-disciplinary, complex commissioning projects.
  • Attend Commissioning meetings and communicate professionally with clients and senior project leaders.
  • Review design drawings and specifications, submittals, RFIs, and ASIs
  • Develop and execute commissioning plans, testing and reporting including final report and systems manual.
  • Conduct on-site field support and functional performance testing of multi-discipline projects.
  • Conduct field observation surveys and prepare field reports on the status of equipment and installations and maintain Cx Issues and Resolutions log.
  • Maintain familiarity with appropriate energy engineering and construction codes. Remain current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Support the identification of target clients and cultivate effective relationships with existing and potential key clients, customers, and contractors to develop business.
  • Contribute to business development strategy, proposal development, and customer interviews.
  • Report directly to Commissioning Project Manager
  • Works closely with a variety of staff across all disciplines to ensure project success.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant job experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; or Construction Management.
  • Obtained or in pursuit of a PE license is a plus.
  • Mechanical/Electrical Design Experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated success in building systems management
  • Experience with cloud-based commissioning software.
  • Energy and/or Commissioning certification(s) from industry organizations (CEM, CBCP, CxP, BEAP, etc.) or willingness to pursue.
  • OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Certification.
  • LEED GA or AP BD+C, or O+M accreditation is a plus
  • Experience with other building systems such as Power, Information Technology (IT), Fire Alarm/Life-Safety, Security Systems, Energy Meters/Sub-Meters, Lighting Controls or other Low-voltage Systems is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, relationship-building, communication, and planning skills
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to schedule, estimate and write contracts
  • Strong analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Functional working knowledge and problem-solving ability for M/E/P and building automation systems.
  • Perform work in field environments including elevated areas, confined spaces, outdoors, mechanical rooms, etc. Perform physical activities as required to complete on site commissioning activities, such as climbing stairs when elevators are non-functional.
  • Able to travel for assignments to project locations in the Southwest up to 20% of the time. 
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience working in the field of HVAC Commissioning, building controls, or building operations. 
  • Valid Arizona Driver's license in good standing and ability to be covered by our insurance.
