As a Local Dedicated Class A Driver, you will play a key role in delivering a variety of products, ranging from food items to furniture, to prominent retail locations throughout the southeastern United States.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate a Class A vehicle in a safe and efficient manner adhering to all company and national safety guidelines.
- Manage routes and schedules effectively, ensuring timely delivery of freight.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance where required.
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules, keeping in touch with dispatch for any changes or updates.
- Document and log work/rest periods and kilometers spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts.
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed.
- Collect and verify delivery instructions, ensuring all paperwork is complete and accurate.
- Report defects, accidents or violations immediately to the responsible department.
- Interact with customers professionally at all times, ensuring questions are answered and issues are resolved.
- Participate in training sessions provided by the company to enhance driving skills and overall service delivery.
Requirements
- Valid CDL Class A License
- Minimum of 1 year OTR (Over-the-Road) driving experience
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) & Background
- Proven work experience as a truck driver
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- No recent moving or driving violations
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.)
- Willingness to undergo training if required
- Ability to handle physical workload
- Strong organizational and time management skills
