Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to determine the needs of the patient and to monitor progress.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the healthcare provider.
- Monitor and document the patient’s condition and the care and treatment provided.
- Assist with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and feeding patients as needed.
- Collaborate with registered nurses and doctors to plan and coordinate patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions and provide advice and emotional support.
- Operate and monitor medical equipment used in patient care.
- Implement infection control practices and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Respond to patient emergencies and provide first aid as necessary.
- Participate in professional development and continuous learning to maintain a current knowledge base in the field of practical nursing.
Requirements
- Valid LPN license in the state of practice.
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program.
- Minimum of one year experience as an LPN, preferred in a hospital or long-term care facility.
- Demonstrate a high level of compassion and understanding for the needs of patients.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to efficiently document care and interact with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently.
- Strong organizational skills and observance to detail.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and appropriate care procedures.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under stressful conditions.
- Physical stamina and dexterity required to perform tasks associated with direct patient care.
