Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments to determine their condition and needs.
- Develop treatment plans that include appropriate therapies to address patient-specific needs.
- Implement therapeutic processes focusing on improving patients' functional abilities.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records regarding treatment plans, progress, and outcomes.
- Adapt treatment plans based on patient progress and other relevant factors.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment strategies and home exercises.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care to patients.
- Use various therapeutic equipment and techniques for patient treatment.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements and best practices in occupational therapy.
- Attend and contribute to professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher associations.
- Provide mentorship to new therapists and participate in community outreach programs.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local certification requirements.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Valid state occupational therapy license.
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in occupational therapy.
- Strong understanding of occupational therapy principles, methods, and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary health team.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- High degree of professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Experience with electronic health record systems preferred.
- Physical ability to assist patients in performing specific exercises and activities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to varying medical situations.
