Big Smile Dental is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and skilled Full-Time Dental Assistant at our well-established practice. This opportunity is ideal for individuals looking to broaden their expertise in dental care and assist in providing high-quality services to our community. This position is not remote and will require the successful candidate to be based at our local office, ensuring direct and continuous care to our patients.

As a Dental Assistant with Big Smile Dental, you will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of our dental office, facilitating excellent patient care and assisting our dentists in various treatment procedures. This role demands a mix of technical skill, a warm patient manner, and a commitment to learning and upholding the highest standards of dental practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive chair-side assistance to dentists during various dental procedures.
  • Ensure optimal patient care from welcoming them into the treatment room, through explanation of procedures, to post-treatment care.
  • Sterilize and prepare instrument sets for dental procedures, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Set up and maintain clean and ready-to-use treatment rooms.
  • Take and process dental X-rays as required following dentist’s orders and in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assist with impression taking and other dental procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and assist with scheduling follow-up appointments.
  • Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, as directed by the dentist.
  • Manage supply inventory and ensure that critical dental materials are in stock and available.
  • Engage in ongoing education and training to stay abreast of the latest best practices in dental assisting.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in using dental software and X-ray equipment is ideal but not a requirement
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and the ability to implement these in all working practices to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of managing sensitive and sometimes uncomfortable situations with empathy.
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Flexible with work hours and able to take on additional duties as required in response to the dental office's needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow directions and adhere closely to specific protocols.
