Salary Range:  $22.00 - $32.00 hour


ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reading and understanding blue prints.
  • Create PQR and WPS documents as necessary
  • Maintain welder certifications and update as required.
  • Maintain a knowledge of industry standard guidelines for tolerances, processes, and procedures.
  • Be consistently available during the workday to inspect WIP (Work in Progress) to ensure efficient production workflow.  
  • Examine manufactured products to ensure they meet all standards of presentation and quality.
  • Study product specifications and work instructions.
  • Create Job Specific inspection sheets to comply with quality requirements for each job.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to determine critical measurements and create a timeline and checklist to perform quality inspections.
  • Review Documents with Project Manager, Welder Fabrication Supervisor, and Crew Leads to inform them on Job Specific instructions. (Critical measurements, specific procedures/processes etc.)
  • Perform visual inspections, mechanical, and functional verification of parts to insure compliance is set to specification and quality standards.
  • Collect and record accurate data regarding defects.
  • Tag and isolate defective material.
  • Create Nonconformance Reports, Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action Plans, etc. that identify deficiencies and set a plan of continuous improvement.
  • Communicate sort/inspection results to managers and supervisors.
  • Create Quality Inspection Report and provide to Project Manager after each job.
  • Make continuous improvement recommendations when possible to eliminate quality issues resulting from IMF standard processes.
  • Identify general and specific training needs for fitters and welders throughout the shop. 
    1. Develop, lead and document weekly training sessions for fitters and welders. 
    2. Coordinate with shop leadership regarding individual and crew training.  
  • Complies with relevant local Health and safety legislation.
  • Supports company health and safety policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to visually utilize computers and other office equipment to properly enter information, as well as read documentation.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch and crawl for long periods of time.  Continual use of your hands, considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 lbs. without physical restrictions on as needed basis.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE at all times such as safety glasses, welding helmets, hearing protection, gloves and safety toe boots.
  • Able to work in hot and cold environments during summer and winter months.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Must have experience working in an industrial steel fab shop.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills to work effectively with others.
  • Able to put prepare concise, accurate written documents.
  • Must be able to prepare and deliver oral and written direction to shop, office staff and customers.
  • Must be able to understand and communicate both verbally and in written form in English since instructions, labels and other documents are in English.
  • Must be willing to accept change and act accordingly.
  • Must be willing to be flexible and willing to accept a variety of tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Two years relevant work experience reading prints, inspecting parts and other quality assurance related tasks.
  • Must have knowledge of ASME and AWS welding codes.
  • Two years of relevant work experience in a production or industrial steel machine shop type environment.
  • Familiar with MS Outlook, Excel and Word is preferred (or other PC based software for managing quality assurance tasks)
  • High School/GED diploma required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required. 
  • Able to work overtime as needed.
