Part-Time Licensed Professional Counselor

Location: Texas Muslim Women’s Foundation Headquarters - Plano, TX  
Hours: 25 hours per week

Position Summary  

The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) at TMWF provides individual and group therapy to  women, teens, and children affected by domestic violence, including Play Therapy for children.  Reporting to the Director of Clinical & Counseling Services, the LPC is responsible for  assessment, treatment planning, community referrals, crisis intervention, and both short-term and  long-term counseling. The Counselor will work collaboratively as part of a treatment team to  advocate for clients impacted by domestic violence.  

Key Responsibilities  

Client Care & Counseling: 

  • Assess and enroll clients in counseling services.  
  • Provide therapy services for teens and individual/group therapy for adults.  
  • Deliver in-person therapy services for adults, with telehealth options available when  necessary.  
  • Conduct safety assessments, risk management, and safety planning as needed.  
  • Maintain an active caseload of 20-24 clients per week.  
  • Provide emotional support, crisis intervention, community resources, referrals, and  advocacy.  

Administrative & Compliance: 

  • Accurately prepare and maintain treatment records while ensuring HIPAA compliance.  
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and legal guidelines.  
  • Attend all required departmental and agency meetings.  
  • Submit accurate and timely reports in accordance with agency policies and grant  requirements. 
  • Ensure compliance with agency protocols, including COVID-related policies.  

Professional Development & Collaboration: 

  • Participate in clinical supervision meetings.  
  • Attend professional development training, including CEUs and annual conferences.  
  • Work collaboratively with the treatment team and external partners.  
  • Maintain active malpractice insurance during employment.  

Qualifications  

  • Bilingual candidates highly preferred. 
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Clinical Counseling, Mental Health,  Psychology, or a related field.  
  • Active LPC, LMFT, LMFT-A, or LPC-A license.  
  • Weekly LPC supervision provided on-site; LMFT supervision must be arranged  externally.  
  • Experience in individual counseling and/or family interventions required.  
  • Experience and knowledge of family violence theory preferred.  
  • Ability to provide in-person and telehealth therapy at the Plano office, transitional  housing, and shelters.  
  • Availability for late afternoon hours and some weekends preferred.  
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
