Georgia Emergency Department Services (GEDS) is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and skilled Emergency Medicine Physician. This position is based at the robust and well-equipped facilities of Singing River Health System, forming part of our ongoing partnership with Mississippi Emergency Department Services (MEDS). We are seeking a full-time professional to further bolster our medical team's capabilities in delivering high-quality emergency care.

This is an onsite, full-time position requiring a committed physician who is ready to handle the dynamic environment of an emergency department. Please note that this position is not a remote job and requires physical presence in the hospital's emergency department where the level of care directly impacts patient outcomes significantly.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough initial patient assessments to determine appropriate management and treatment pathways.
  • Provide urgent medical treatment in emergency situations with timeliness and precision.
  • Perform essential procedures such as intubation, central line placement, lumbar punctures, and more.
  • Interpret diagnostic imaging and lab tests to inform patient management plans.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high standards of patient care.
  • Maintain diligent records and documentation as per hospital protocols and legal requirements.
  • Participate in continuing education, training, and other professional development activities to stay current with the advancements in emergency medicine.
  • Guide and supervise junior doctors and medical students when required, promoting a culture of learning and professional excellence within the department.
  • Manage time and resources effectively to meet the demands of the emergency department, prioritizing tasks and patients accordingly.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to departmental meetings to enhance service delivery and patient care.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid and unencumbered medical license to practice in the state of Mississippi.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine.
  • Proven experience working in a high-volume emergency department.
  • Demonstrable skills in advanced life support, trauma care, and other critical emergency procedures.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex conditions to patients and families compassionately and effectively.
  • Commitment to ethical medical practice and a high standard of care.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the emergency department's schedule.
  • A collaborative spirit that thrives in a multidisciplinary team setting.
