As a Registered/Dental Assistant at Esskay Dental, you will play a crucial role in supporting our dental care delivery team. Your contributions will directly impact the quality of care we provide, ensuring our patients always receive the best possible service. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare examination and surgical rooms by sterilizing instruments and moving equipment into place.
  • Assist in updating and maintaining client dental records.
  • Perform chair-side assistance duties during and after dental procedures.
  • Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by the dentist.
  • Capture and develop dental radiographs (x-rays).
  • Assist with the administration of anesthesia and other medications.
  • Conduct preliminary physical examination of the patient’s oral cavity.
  • Guide patients through treatment procedures before commencing.
  • Manage inventory and order dental supplies and materials as needed.
  • Ensure all health and safety protocols are strictly followed to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Assist with dental billing and ensuring all treatments are recorded accurately for billing purposes.
  • Engage in patient education and guidance on maintaining optimal dental health.
  • Support the dentist during emergencies by providing efficient aid and facilitating access to necessary tools and materials.
  • Maintain a friendly, welcoming environment to enhance patient comfort and trust.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or Registered Dental Assistant.
  • Completion of a state-accredited dental assisting training program.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
  • Understanding of health & safety regulations and ability to comply strictly with them.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with an emphasis on patient care.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • High School Diploma; higher education or qualifications in Dental Assistance are preferable.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and adapt to different scenarios in the clinic.
  • Basic computer skills for maintaining electronic dental records and managing scheduling software.
  • Professional demeanor and a strong work ethic.
  • Capacity to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility and availability to work extended hours when necessary.
