Job Description

GroHR, a leading firm in the construction industry, is currently seeking a professional Estimator to join our dynamic team. This full-time position is located in our Dallas, TX office and involves intensive, hands-on work in a high-energy environment. As an Estimator at GroHR, you will be integral to our operations, providing accurate and competitive bids to drive our projects forward. It's important to note that this is not a remote job, and the successful candidate will be required to work on-site.

The successful candidate will be someone who thrives in a challenging environment and is capable of handling multiple projects with varying scopes. With your expertise, you will ensure that all estimations align with our strategic goals and meet the meticulous standards for which GroHR is known. This role demands keen attention to detail and an unyielding commitment to delivering excellence in every project bid and financial forecast you oversee.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to understand the scope of work and identify costing strategies.
  • Develop detailed quantity takeoffs and compile comprehensive material lists to ensure accurate estimations.
  • Secure competitive quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to maximize cost-efficiency.
  • Prepare and submit bids for construction projects, maintaining alignment with company's financial and strategic goals.
  • Negotiate contracts, focusing on terms that protect the company's interests while maintaining good relationships with clients and suppliers.
  • Monitor project costs and budgets to ensure financial targets are met, reporting discrepancies and adjustments needed.
  • Manage project schedules to guarantee timely completion of tasks in accordance with contractual obligations.
  • Become proficient in industry-specific software and tools such as Xctimate and Microsoft Office for effective project management.
  • Conduct site visits to walk through, photograph, and scope out potential restoration and renovation projects.
  • Inspect building sites to determine the comprehensive scope needed, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Keep abreast of market costs of labor and materials by continuously researching and networking with suppliers and industry contacts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction science, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in construction estimating.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, practices, and legal regulations.
  • High proficiency in quantity takeoff software and adept at adapting to new technologies used in construction estimating.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems with innovative solutions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively negotiating and building strong business relations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining precision and accuracy.
  • Capability to work both independently and as a vital member of a team.
  • Physical ability to navigate construction sites safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety protocols and requirements.
