This position is pivotal to our operations and is not eligible for remote work. The selected candidate will be based at our on-site facilities, which significantly influence and impact our community positively. The Social Services Director - TMFW will play a crucial role in our organization, a nonprofit specializing in providing crucial support to survivors of domestic violence. The essence of this role entails supervisory responsibilities, strategic planning, and an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our residents within our confidential shelters. This position demands a leader with not only a strong moral fiber but also exceptional skills in managing both resources and people compassionately and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the programs and services offered to clients, ensuring they meet organizational standards and client needs.
  • Manage, guide, and train the social services staff team, fostering a cooperative and productive work environment.
  • Oversee the safe and confidential operation of domestic violence shelters, ensuring all protocols and legal guidelines are adhered to.
  • Lead crisis response teams and ensure a high standard of care and support during emergencies.
  • Engage with community stakeholders and networks to promote advocacy and secure funding for the continuation and expansion of services.
  • Develop strategic plans in alignment with the organization's objectives and monitor the progress of these initiatives.
  • Handle confidential information with the utmost discretion and integrity.
  • Maintain records and prepare detailed reports on departmental activities, challenges, and accomplishments.
  • Address and resolve any issues related to client services, including addressing grievances and modifying policies as necessary.
  • Regular assessment of facility needs and acting upon these evaluations to ensure the safety and comfort of residents and staff.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in a social services environment, with a preference for those who have experience in domestic violence sectors.
  • Demonstrable ability to handle confidential information with discretion and responsibility.
  • Proven track record of managing personnel, creating a collaborative work environment, and promoting professional development among staff.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with a diverse range of individuals and groups.
  • Competence in crisis management and the ability to lead teams effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational and strategic planning skills with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Familiarity with the laws and regulations applicable to the operation of domestic violence shelters.
  • High moral integrity and an unwavering commitment to the protection and support of vulnerable populations.
  • Readiness to respond to emergencies outside regular working hours, providing necessary leadership and support.
