Community Manager - Gaming

Redmond, WA 98052 • Marketing • Project Management • Social Media • Contract/Temporary

Salary Range:  $60000 - $70000 year

Hanson Consulting Group is looking for a Community Manager to be the primary voice for our client in the gaming industry. This person will build relationships with fans, followers, and developers to increase engagement with the program and content.

There are two different communities to manage, independent developers in the program and consumers of their games. As the Community Manager you will promote games using business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) techniques. This digital-savvy person will own the creation of the consumer engagement plan, the day-to-day execution of all areas of the plan, and will align with the existing developer engagement plan.

This person will be responsible for driving product adoption and engagement and driving the community presence at events and on all social channels.

Must be located in the Greater Seattle area.


Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the development, marketing, and business teams, to create and execute the community strategy plan.
  • Create and update daily/weekly/monthly reports utilizing measurement tools to provide analytics, and continuously strategize to improve on those metrics through new and creative initiatives.
  • Plan content for web sites, blogs, streams, and other social channels, and ensure the content is regular, relevant, and engaging.
  • Moderate forums, in-game chat, and other social media channels, as needed.
  • Coordinate with developers to help support them with their campaigns.
  • Engage in the community as an active player of the program’s games. 
  • Identify threats and opportunities and liaise with internal stakeholders, to relay and track feedback, and report any issues.
  • Manage the community presence at events such as PAX and GDC.
  • May attend local community meetups and evangelize the program.
  • Regularly stream on various platforms such as Twitch and YouTube, leveraging the client’s onsite streaming studio.

 

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience as a Community Manager, or similar role. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, digital or social media management or related degree.
  • Passion for indie games & understanding of game genres and game culture.
  • Experience with creating content, engaging social media, and streaming. 
  • Strong onscreen presentation skills with experience showcasing games and engaging with an audience. 
  • Familiarity with B2B and B2C strategies and concepts. 
  • Experience managing a gaming, entertainment, or technology blog/web publishing outlet.
  • Ability to parse through all content coming out of the organization and determine what to share, how to share, and when to share.
  • Strong collaborator with the ability to work with other internal organizations as well as external partners.
  • Thorough understanding of a variety of social channels and tools, and online communities. Experience communicating in forums is a plus.
