Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the work of dental assistants in the practice.
  • Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including preparing and maintaining dental instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Manage patient scheduling and flow throughout the day to optimize efficiency and patient satisfaction.
  • Ensure that all health and safety regulations are strictly observed, and all patient care is delivered in compliance with infection control protocols.
  • Provide guidance and training to new staff members and assist in the performance reviews of dental assisting personnel.
  • Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needed supplies, and placing and expediting orders for supplies.
  • Develop radiographs and carry out dental x-ray procedures when necessary.
  • Document dental care services by charting in patient records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, and workshops.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and team members, providing education on appropriate oral hygiene strategies.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid dental assistant registration.
  • Proven experience as a dental assistant; prior leadership experience is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in various dental office software.
  • Excellent understanding of dental hygiene procedures.
  • Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
  • Reliable and strong ability to build trust with patients and team members.
  • Must be self-motivated and team oriented with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities, capable of managing and motivating teams.
  • Ability to keep a calm, professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be CPR certified.
