JB Dental Lab in Tempe, AZ is seeking a self-motivated IT Systems Administrator with strong initiative and the aptitude to lead projects and improvements. As a key member of our agile and collaborative team, you'll operate within a trusting environment where diverse expertise is valued and empowerment is central. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining the laboratory's servers, network infrastructure, software applications, and cloud storage/maintenance. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our IT systems.
Consequently, you'll be entrusted with significant autonomy to take ownership of systems that align with your skills and interests. We empower you to proactively identify needs, design effective solutions, and champion their implementation. Your leadership and proactive approach are crucial for driving our systems forward, shaping their future, and leveraging the flexibility inherent in our team structure.
We're looking for somebody who is good at (or can become good at), and genuinely enjoys:
Server Admin: Deploy, configure, and maintain physical servers, virtual machines, and containers.
Network Admin: Manage, monitor and improve network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and DNS.
Workstation Admin: Oversee the health, imaging, and occasional construction of a fleet of computers, as well as installation, configuration, and updates of software used in the laboratory.
Cloud Admin: Administer and manage M365, (and maybe some Google Workspace) ensuring secure access and identity management.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly.
Security: Implement and maintain security protocols to protect data and systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats, in compliance with NIST and HIPAA standards.
Backups: Develop and manage backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
User Support: Provide user support for tickets from your division, escalated from the helpdesk.
Generally making things better: Demonstrate initiative by identifying opportunities for improvements and optimization.
What you'll need:
Excellent problem solving skills.
A genuine passion for computers, networking, and technology - the ability or desire to keep up with trends, and not let skills or systems go stale.
Aptitude to thrive in a collaborative, trust-based environment that offers significant autonomy and the freedom to implement your vision.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to (occasionally) convey very technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
3+ years of experience with virtual machines, and a hypervisor (Proxmox, ideally).
A solid understanding of TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VLANs, and Firewalls.
5+ years of experience with, and strong technical knowledge in Linux and/or Windows administration.
Nice to have(s):

A Passion for Linux and Open Source. A passion for Microsoft and Microsoft products will also suffice.
Experience with dental lab software (Exocad, 3Shape, Magic Touch) preferred, but not required.

Relevant certificates for anything within the realm of Computers and Networking.
Programming knowledge, SQL knowledge, and the ability to diagnose software we use, or host.
