National Coordinating Counsel Paralegal

Salary Range:  $55000 - $85000 year

Segal McCambridge, a national litigation firm is seeking an experienced paralegal to join our National Coordinating Counsel team supporting the needs of a large, multinational client in asbestos litigation.   The candidate will join an established team as the lead paralegal overseeing all jurisdictions nationally.  This position offers exponential opportunity for someone looking to perform challenging work in a collaborative, team environment within a well-established, but growing organization.  The position is based in our New York office with a flexible mix of in-office and remote work. 

Essential duties and responsibilities include: 

  • Processing, analyzing and distributing complaints and other related pleadings;
  • Administration and management of global extranet;
  • Preparation of settlement documents, as well as working with the client, local counsel and plaintiffs’ firms to ensure accurate and timely processing;
  • Handle all Medicare reporting and compliance;
  • Perform historic research regarding client information and documents;
  • Preparation of quarterly client reporting and presentations;
  • Preparation of discovery related documents;
  • Preparation of various reporting letters to the client, local counsel and other stakeholders;
  • Analysis of data to ensure uniform consistency and compliance nationwide;
  • Work with client representatives on discovery issues, depositions and other ad hoc issues; and
  • All other duties as assigned by the team attorneys.

Desired skills and knowledge:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a paralegal in a civil litigation setting;
  • Experience with asbestos litigation preferable; 
  • Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures and legal terminology;
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under pressure;
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in drafting, editing and proofreading documents and presentations;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Windows Applications, Internet search engines and electronic court filing and service applications;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate with senior level individuals both internally and externally;
  • Ability to follow instructions effectively;
  • Independent judgment required to plan, prioritize and organize diversified workload.
