Job Description

The Bug Company, an innovative leader in the breeding and production of a diverse range of insects for various markets, is excited to announce a job opening for a dedicated Production Associate. This position is critical to the company as it involves the direct handling and processing of our live product lines. Located at our main production facility, this job is on-site and is not a remote position. The suitable candidate will be someone ready to engage in insect breeding. This role requires attention to detail, adaptability to physically demanding tasks, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining our stringent company standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure the health and welfare of insects.
  • Prepare food and habitat materials for various insect species with accuracy and precision.
  • Monitor, record, and report the health condition of insects and their habitats.
  • Conduct routine checks and maintenance of breeding enclosures and production equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members on projects aimed at optimizing production efficiency and quality.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities and adapt to new roles as the need arises, aligned with management's strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Reliability in maintaining a clean and organized work environment is crucial for the health and welfare of the insects.
  • Ability to prepare necessary materials and perform tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Efficient in working both independently and as a team member, with strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with colleagues.
  • Professional demeanor and a friendly attitude towards co-workers and other staff within the facility.
  • Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate by management, adaptable to changing needs and conditions.
  • A willingness to adhere to all company guidelines and procedures, consistently aiming for the highest industry practices.
  • Ability to work in a dusty, hot, and humid environment, and withstand physically demanding tasks.
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs frequently and engage in frequent standing, squatting, kneeling, bending, and carrying.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply them in high-pressure situations.
  • Fluency in English with the ability to understand and communicate instructions effectively.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including counting to 100.
  • Skilled in the use of tools like box cutters and tape guns for preparation and packaging tasks.
  • Must be able to work directly with and handle live insects without hesitation.

Schedule

Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

**Hours will fluctuate based on the shipping schedules and company needs**
