Job Description

The Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians is excited to announce an opening for a diligent and skilled Real Estate Services/GIS Tech. This full-time role presents a remarkable opportunity for a professional dedicated to supporting our Land and Resources team through precise GIS data management and real estate services. The position will play a crucial part in maintaining and enhancing the Tribe's real estate operations and corresponding geographical informational systems. This is not a remote job; the candidate will be required to work at our tribal offices to facilitate direct collaboration and supervision.

The Real Estate Services/GIS Tech will support a range of activities including but not limited to land acquisitions, Fee-To-Trust transfers, and general property records maintenance. This role demands high-level skills in GIS systems, a thorough understanding of real estate processes specific to tribal lands, and impeccable attention to detail. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the strategic management and operational efficiency of our tribal lands, ensuring accuracy in all forms of map production and land documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Compile, manage and maintain accurate GIS data for land and resource management decisions.
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain maps and other geographical information systems related to real estate activities.
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of Fee-To-Trust land transfers and other related land acquisition procedures.
  • Work closely with various Tribal departments and programs to support their GIS data requirements and real estate services needs.
  • Create and update digital and paper cartographic products for a variety of real estate and planning projects.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot GIS hardware, software, and related technology to ensure dependability and accuracy in data management.
  • Coordinate activities that promote access, protection, and usage of Tribal lands consistent with Tribal goals and legal guidelines.
  • Ensure strict adherence to confidentiality and security protocols when handling sensitive land use data and tribal records.
  • Provide support and training to other staff members on GIS tools and real estate services practices.
  • Prepare reports and presentations as needed to facilitate decision-making and project updates to Tribal leadership.

Requirements

  • Minimum two-year College Diploma in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Planning, Natural Sciences, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Two to three years of experience and knowledge with GIS databases and editing using ESRI ArcGIS Pro Software and/or other computer-related software.
  • Two to three years of experience in developing paper and web cartographic products using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online (AGOL).
  • Understanding of Fee-To-Trust processes, land acquisition due diligence, and BIA real estate service functions.
  • Knowledge of regulations and protocols related to Tribal real estate.
  • Experience/knowledge in a complementary field to GIS (planning, natural resources, forestry).
  • Experience with field GPS devices and applications.
  • Capacity to troubleshoot and solve technical problems for office and field staff.
  • Strong professional, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible working style, self-initiated, self-motivated, and a willingness to work with teams to meet staff needs and project schedules.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Access, and Excel.
  • Ability to follow instructions; responds to management direction and adapts to frequent changes, delays, and unexpected events.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, integrity, respect for confidentiality, sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
