The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians is pleased to announce an exciting employment opportunity within our Health & Wellness Center. We are currently seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to join our team. This position is a full-time, on-site role at our well-equipped facility, ensuring direct engagement and interaction with our community members and staff. It is crucial to note that this is not a remote job, requiring a candidate who can effectively commute and manage responsibilities directly from our healthcare center.
The Medical Receptionist acts as the face of the Cow Creek Health & Wellness Center, often being the first point of contact for our patients and guests. This critical position plays an essential role in facilitating patient care by providing outstanding customer service, gathering crucial patient data, scheduling appointments, and delivering informed and accurate information to our patients and healthcare users.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support medical teams through managing consults, referrals, case management, patient reminders, follow-ups, and coordinating additional projects as needed.
- Schedule patient appointments using Electronic Health Records (EHR)
- Obtain and record patient demographics at each visit to ensure accuracy for billing and updating patient health information.
- Verify and update insurance information during each patient interaction to maintain up-to-date records for all treatments and consultations.
- Perform clerical and support duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor and assist other staff members with various tasks upon request.
- Collect co-pays and balances as dictated by established policies, apply payments to patient balances accurately, and maintain a daily accounting log of patient transactions.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters, adhering to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all health programs offered by the Health & Wellness Center to provide informed responses to inquiries.
- Travel as required by job duties and be able to commute to all clinic locations when necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of two years experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- Experience with scheduling, referrals, and consultations highly preferred.
- Proficiency in using medical office software, including EHR and PMAS.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with patients, family members, and other staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as needed.
- Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Capability to understand and apply written and verbal procedures and instructions.
- Commitment to provide high level of customer service to ensure a positive patient experience at every interaction.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new protocols or procedures as they are developed within the center.
