The Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and skilled Accounts Payable Specialist. This is a full-time, on-site position located within our dynamic finance department. As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of our operations by ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments and managing associated records. This role is integral to the financial health and functionality of our organization, supporting various departments and contributing significantly to our mission.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Collects, verifies, and distributes invoices, bills, and checks by performing pre-audits to ensure both accuracy and appropriateness prior to payment.
- Maintain Tribal Member payment information and process their distribution payments on a monthly and bi-annual basis.
- Enters invoices and recurring bills into the payment system to be paid.
- Issues checks for accounts payable.
- Prepare check documentation for audit review annually.
- Maintain a paperless filing system to uphold a high standard of organization and efficiency.
- Assists the AP Supervisor and other Accounting Staff with any other duties deemed necessary to support the department's goals.
Requirements
- High school diploma or an equivalent degree required.
- Associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable preferred.
- Possesses knowledge of general accounting and bookkeeping principles, as well as proficiency in relevant accounting software.
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees and vendors in a friendly and positive manner, involving listening and providing proactive solutions.
- Must be able to work both as part of a team and independently; a self-starter attitude is crucial.
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency in an organized manner.
- Requires maintenance of confidential information with utmost discretion.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
