Excel is excited to announce an opening for an Electrical & Instrumentation Project Controls Specialist in Nederland, TX. This full-time position is geared towards individuals who thrive on the challenges associated with project management in the interdisciplinary arenas of electrical and instrumentation engineering. The Electrical & Instrumentation Project Controls Specialist will play a key role in ensuring the effective execution and delivery of engineering projects. The professional we are seeking will have a proven track record of managing complex schedules, budgets, and projects from conception through to completion with meticulous attention to detail and a robust understanding of electrical and instrumentation engineering principles.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor, and update integrated project plans and schedules so that projects can be executed in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Prepare, revise, and update budgets and expenditures throughout the project lifecycle to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Evaluate project specifications and drawings to prepare detailed, accurate estimates and quotes for electrical and instrumentation aspects.
  • Collaborate with project engineers and other project management staff to ensure the project aligns with agreed standards and scope.
  • Perform risk management assessments and devise plans to mitigate potential issues in project timelines and deliverables.
  • Facilitate communications between project stakeholders to ensure keen alignment and clear transmission of project status, dependencies, and adjustments.
  • Engage and negotiate with vendors for the procurement of materials and services required for project delivery.
  • Analyze project data meticulously to generate performance reports and presentations for senior management highlighting progress, challenges, and solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to electrical and instrumentation engineering domains.
  • Offer technical support and advice on electrical and instrumentation matters to project teams.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by reviewing current processes and systems and suggesting improvements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices in project controls to enhance project performance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in project controls, project planning, or in a similar role specifically within electrical and instrumentation fields.
  • Strong competency in software tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent project management software.
  • In-depth understanding of electrical systems and instrumentation within a project context.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills to manage budgets, create forecasts, and interpret complex data.
  • Detail-oriented with an uncompromising pursuit of excellence in project delivery.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to foresee problems before they escalate.
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining strong relationships.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills; able to balance multiple priorities simultaneously without compromising on quality or deadlines.
  • Professional certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Experience in estimating, quoting, and tendering processes specifically related to industrial electrical and instrumentation projects.
  • A strong commitment to adhering to safety protocols and regulations in the electrical and instrumentation disciplines.
