Evie's Spanish Point, a premier waterfront restaurant, is excited to announce an opening in our culinary team. We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join us as a Full-Time Prep Cook. Situated at the heart of a bustling culinary scene, our restaurant offers an exceptional workplace environment with an emphasis on sustainability and innovative cuisine. This position is based onsite at our expansive and scenic location and is not eligible for remote work.

The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to work under the guidance of renowned chefs and contribute to a menu that draws both local and international visitors. This role is critical in maintaining the efficiency and quality that Evie's Spanish Point is celebrated for. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal prep tasks.
  • Assist in the development and execution of recipes and dishes under the guidance of the head chef and sous chefs.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
  • Perform inventory checks and complete food storage logs.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the culinary team to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner.
  • Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages.
  • Handle, sort, and organize ingredients and foods efficiently to minimize waste.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable knowledge of health and safety rules in the kitchen.
  • A team player with good communication skills.
  • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Vocational training or an associate degree in culinary arts is preferred.
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work in shifts, during weekends and evenings.
  • Strong stamina to handle the physical requirements of the job.
