Staff Accountant Job Description

We are looking for a well-organized staff accountant who will be in charge of monitoring and maintaining a variety of financial records. This position requires you to update balance sheets, reconcile accounts and prepare income and expense reports.

You will be responsible for many different aspects of the accounting process, such as reconciling, budgeting, and forecasting, to name just a few! Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Being in charge of records of assets and liabilities

  • Preparing reports

  • Reviewing income and expenses

  • Assisting with all accounting-related duties

  • Storing data on the computer and making sure everything is in order

  • Develop budgets and financial forecasts

  • Publish financial statements

  • Audit documents to ensure accurate financial transactions.

  • Maintain confidentiality in handling financial information

  • Recommend financial decision-making by evaluating available options

  • Prepare and record asset, liability, and capital account entries.

  • Analyze and fix discrepancies in account information

  • Reconcile checkbook registers

  • Be knowledgeable about federal, state, and local financial laws and regulations.

Requirements:


  • High school diploma or GED

  • Exceptional in written and verbal communication

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Efficient numerical and analytical skills.

  • Understanding of accounting and financial reporting competencies.

  • Knowledge of MS Office and other computer software.

  • Working proficiency in accounting software

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of accounting and corporate finance methods and principles

  • Should be able to work in a fast-paced yet detail-oriented setting with the ability to make changes quickly as needed.
