Full-Time Dental Assistant

The selected candidate will work closely with our skilled dentist in a one-doctor practice. This role requires flexibility and a team-oriented attitude, as responsibilities include not only assisting the doctor in various dental procedures but also occasionally managing front desk duties. Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
- Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment.
- Take and record digital dental radiographs (x-rays).
- Manage infection control - prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
- Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
- Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
- Take dental impressions or molds for diagnostic and treatment purposes.
- Perform office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer.
- Communicate with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing, and ordering supplies).
- Help to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, and oral surgery.
- Occasionally assist at the front desk with patient scheduling, billing, and maintaining records.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a dental assistant.
- Excellent understanding of dental hygiene procedures.
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
- Understanding of health & safety regulations.
- Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing is a plus.
- Good computer skills with experience in dental practice management software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of dexterity and attention to detail.
- Reliable and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Relevant certification or associate degree in Dental Assisting/Technology.
- Flexibility to handle various roles within the practice, as needed.
