The selected candidate will work closely with our skilled dentist in a one-doctor practice. This role requires flexibility and a team-oriented attitude, as responsibilities include not only assisting the doctor in various dental procedures but also occasionally managing front desk duties. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
  • Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment.
  • Take and record digital dental radiographs (x-rays).
  • Manage infection control - prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
  • Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
  • Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
  • Take dental impressions or molds for diagnostic and treatment purposes.
  • Perform office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer.
  • Communicate with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing, and ordering supplies).
  • Help to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, and oral surgery.
  • Occasionally assist at the front desk with patient scheduling, billing, and maintaining records.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a dental assistant.
  • Excellent understanding of dental hygiene procedures.
  • Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
  • Understanding of health & safety regulations.
  • Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing is a plus.
  • Good computer skills with experience in dental practice management software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Reliable and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Relevant certification or associate degree in Dental Assisting/Technology.
  • Flexibility to handle various roles within the practice, as needed.
